# MYKITA in 2026: an LVMH investment, a Rodeo Drive store, and four new frames with RIMOWA

One of the most requested frames in our boutique comes out of a workshop in Berlin. This year the brand moved fast, and a few facts are worth knowing before you choose a frame.

MYKITA is one of the most requested frames in our boutique, which makes it worth pausing to explain what actually happened to the brand this past year. The story is not a new collection. It is about who owns it, where it is made, and what that means for the frame you will wear for the next five years.

## LVMH came in, and the independence stayed
Thélios, the eyewear arm of the LVMH group, took a minority stake in MYKITA. The announcement came in November 2024 and was reported by WWD alongside the trade and business press. Terms were not disclosed.

The interesting clause is what did not change. Every report repeats the same wording: MYKITA continues to operate with full independence across strategy, operations and the creative process, from design through production and distribution. In plain terms, the frames are still made in the same place, the same way. If you buy a frame for its hinges and its materials, that is the detail that matters.

## The numbers: 3,000 stockists in 80 countries
Per a FashionNetwork report from February 2026, MYKITA now reaches 3,000 stockists across 80 countries and runs 16 monobrand stores. Its 2025 results showed high single-digit growth.

Moritz Krueger, founder and creative director, put it this way: "We're the only independent eyewear company with monobrand stores in four continents." The newest store opened in June 2026 on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, with an evolved version of the retail concept. Paris, London and Shanghai are queued behind it.

One small correction worth making: MYKITA already had a Los Angeles shop, in the Eastern Columbia Building downtown. Rodeo Drive is an addition, not the brand's first door in the city.

## Four new HERITAGE styles with RIMOWA
The collaboration with RIMOWA, the German luggage maker, expanded in April 2026 with four new styles in Clay Green, a matte khaki tone. The frames are hand-lacquered stainless steel with anodised aluminium rings (aluminium treated electrochemically to harden the surface and lock in the colour).

The styles: the MR001 in a panto shape, the MR002 square, and two MR006 aviators. European list price is 595 euro.

## And in parallel, the OAMC capsule
February 2026 brought a second capsule, this one with OAMC, the menswear label founded in 2013 by Luke Meier and Arnaud Faeh. Two styles only: the RAT, a sharp square navigator, and the GRUNT, a retro panto with a double bridge. The materials are lightweight stainless steel together with MYLON, MYKITA's proprietary 3D printed material, and Zeiss sun lenses with UV protection and anti-reflective coating. Every frame is made by hand at MYKITA HAUS in Berlin.

Moritz Krueger described the meeting this way: "When I met Luke, it was immediately clear that we were speaking the same language." Luke Meier, for his part: "I have an appreciation for the ingenuity of Moritz and MYKITA, independent thinking, extreme pursuit of deep knowledge."

## Why this matters if you are buying a frame in Tel Aviv
Three practical conclusions. First, a large investor coming in usually signals the brand will be around for years, which matters when you need a spare part or a repair four years from now. Second, the independence clause means production in Berlin and the screwless spiral hinge do not change, so the frame you buy today is the same frame in quality terms. Third, the pace of collaborations has gone up, so special colourways tend to disappear faster.

At our boutique in Kikar HaMedina you can try on the series we keep in store. The current list is on the brand page, and if there is a specific style you are after, write to us and we will check availability through the official importer.
