# Prescription sunglasses at Opticnet

Almost every pair of sunglasses we carry can be glazed with prescription lenses, multifocals and strong prescriptions included. What changes from model to model is the complexity and the lead time.

## Yes, on designer sunglasses too
One of the questions we hear most is whether a prescription can go into a pair of fashion-house sunglasses. In most cases it can. Most of the sunglasses we carry can be glazed with prescription lenses, multifocals and strong prescriptions included.

What differs between models is not whether it is possible but how complex it is. A relatively flat frame takes a prescription lens easily. A curved or wrapped frame calls for careful lens choice to avoid distortion and thick edges. Once you have chosen a frame we will confirm whether it can be done and how long it will take.

## Choosing the lens
Beyond the power there are a few decisions that change how the glasses feel day to day. A polarised lens filters glare off the road, the sea and car roofs, which suits driving and the beach. The tint affects contrast and how colours read. Most important of all is full UV protection, which is a matter of health rather than comfort.

If you already wear multifocals for distance, it is worth considering multifocals in the sunglasses too. Otherwise you will find yourself lifting them every time you want to read something outdoors.

## What about a frame you already own
If you have a pair of sunglasses you love, bring them in and we will look. Not every older frame survives a lens change: acetate ages, and hinges and rims that have weakened can break in the process. We will look, tell you honestly what the risk is, and only then you decide.

## The brands we carry
At the boutique on Kikar HaMedina you will find sunglasses from [Dior](/brands/dior), [Cartier](/brands/cartier), [Gucci](/brands/gucci), [Saint Laurent](/brands/saint-laurent), [Celine](/brands/celine), [MYKITA](/brands/mykita), [DITA](/brands/dita) and more, all as an authorised dealer with full manufacturer warranty. The full list is on the home page.

## Lead times
Simple single-vision lenses are usually ready within a few working days. Multifocals, strong prescriptions and wrapped frames usually take a little longer. When you order we give you a realistic estimate for the model and lens you chose.

## Questions

### Can I get prescription lenses in designer sunglasses?

In most cases yes. Most of the sunglasses we carry can be glazed with prescription lenses, including multifocals and strong prescriptions. The lead time depends on the complexity of the lens and on the specific model, and we will confirm whether it is possible and how long it will take once you have chosen a frame.

### I have a strong prescription. Can it go into a wrapped frame?

In many cases yes. Strong prescriptions in curved or wrapped frames need careful lens selection to avoid distortion and thick edges, and that is where the fitting with our optometrist makes the difference. We will tell you honestly which frames will look great with your prescription.

### Can I bring sunglasses I already own and have the lenses changed?

We can look, and in many cases yes. It is worth knowing that not every older frame survives a lens change: acetate ages, and hinges and rims weakened over the years can break in the process. Bring the pair in, we will look and tell you the risk before touching it.
