Zilli נוסד בליון ב-1965, סביב בית המלאכה של תופר איטלקי בשם טאופילו זילי. אלן שימל הוא שהפך אותו לבית אופנה בינלאומי לגברים.

Zilli was founded in Lyon in 1965 around the workshop of an Italian tailor, Teofilo Zilli. Alain Schimel turned it into an international menswear house.

The house made its name with its short leather jacket, in exceptionally fine skins and crocodile, alongside cashmere and silk. In 2010 Zilli received the French Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant label, given to workshops with rare know-how.

The eyewear is developed and made by Grosfilley Lunettes, a French eyewear maker, under licence from Zilli. In 2024 the Zilli and Grosfilley ZI65109 sunglasses won the SILMO d'Or in the brand sunglasses category at the SILMO show in Paris.

A small tip for reading the code: ZI 60 at the start is an optical frame, and ZI 65 is a pair of sunglasses.
