Dior eyewear is produced today by Thelios, the eyewear company wholly owned by LVMH. The licence moved there in 2019 and the first collection came out in January 2021. The factory is in Longarone in the Veneto, at the foot of the Dolomites, and in summer 2025 a second site dedicated entirely to metal frames was added. The names in the catalogue come from the house's own world: 30 Montaigne after Dior's historic Paris address, CD Diamond, Cannage after the woven motif, and DiorPacific with its gold stars on the front.
Christian Dior opened his Paris house in 1946, and the New Look he showed in 1947 changed how the world dressed almost overnight. Eyewear became part of that world in the late 1960s, when Dior helped popularise a light, mouldable frame material and turned sunglasses into a real fashion statement rather than just sun protection.
The modern icon is the Dior So Real, the mirrored, bridgeless sunglasses that Rihanna wore around the 2014 shows and turned into an instant street style hit, picked up soon after by Kylie Jenner, Selena Gomez and many others. Rihanna later teamed up with Dior to design her own sunglass collection.
Today Dior eyewear is made in Italy by Thelios, the group's own eyewear house, so every pair carries the finish and attention you expect from the name on the temple.

The cat-eye frames from the DiorBlackSuit line are almost always a safe pick - the lifted outer corner opens the eyes and flatters nearly every face shape. If you want more presence, look at the oversized round silhouettes with a 1970s spirit; the geometric shield shapes in DiorLink speak to anyone who wants a clean, architectural, slightly bolder frame.
What sets Dior apart is house DNA that carries into the eyewear: the tiny refined CD logo on the temple, the padded Cannage motif familiar from the bags, and a nod to Christian Dior's Bar jacket line. Frames are made from Italian acetate with exceptional colour depth and delicately finished metal hardware, with lenses that block 100% UV - so beyond the look, there is real eye protection.
For 2026 the classics still lead - black, havana, and warm sand tones - alongside limited drops in dusty rose and sage green. By the number, not by the letter. On the trade reference stamped inside the temple, models starting with 40 are sunglasses and models starting with 50 are optical frames. The letters at the end, I or U or F, do not mark sun against optical, and that is a very common mistake online. Note too that Dior runs two numbering systems in parallel, one on the brand's own site and a trade one stamped on the frame.

In practice it marks the shape. S is square or rectangular, R is round or oval, B is butterfly or cat-eye, A is a pilot and M is a mask. There are exceptions, and Dior does not publish an official key, so it is better to rely on the shape description than on the letter. It matters especially that the same code repeats across families, so B3U exists in 30 Montaigne, in CDior and in DiorPacific. Without the family name the code alone does not identify a model.

Not to all of them, and the brand states it explicitly on each product page. Some sun models are made to take prescription lenses and some are not, mainly the ones with a strongly curved lens or a rimless construction. We check this against the model's specification before ordering lenses, so you do not find out after the purchase.
