Saint Laurent eyewear is developed and distributed by Kering Eyewear, the company Kering founded in 2014 to make eyewear for its fashion houses, with production in Italy. The catalogue has two halves: the numeric line, which holds the SL 1 and SL 28 icons and the models that also carry a name, such as SL 276 Mica and SL 751 Jeanne, and the Monogram line marked with an M and identified by the YSL Cassandre monogram set externally into the temple hinge. Several current models are made from recycled acetate.
Yves Saint Laurent founded his house in Paris in 1961 together with Pierre Berge, and the famous interlocking YSL monogram was drawn that same year. Saint Laurent has been shaping eyewear since the Rive Gauche years of the 1960s and 70s, and the designer's own bold black glasses became part of his signature look.
The modern range keeps that confidence, from the SL 276 Mica cat eye to oversized squares and the playful heart shaped Loulou. Hedi Slimane's 2013 relaunch of Saint Laurent Paris, with its stark black and white campaigns, put eyewear right back at the centre of the brand's image.

Saint Laurent speaks to anyone who wants black-and-white confidence on the face. The SL 276 Mica cat-eye is a safe pick for a lifted, precise line; oversized square frames give rock-chic presence; the heart-shaped Loulou is a playful statement if you want character.
House DNA: deep black, sharp lines, and the YSL monogram when it appears - always restrained. Frames are made in Italy through Kering Eyewear, in clean acetate and metal. Saint Laurent especially flatters minimal wardrobes where the glasses become the design point.

It is the Monogram family. The identifying mark is the YSL monogram, the one designed by Cassandre, set externally into the temple hinge rather than printed on it. We keep several models from the series. Note the distinction: an M at the start of the reference marks the Monogram family, but an M at the end, as in SL 312 M, means something else entirely.

On the numeric line the optical version is usually marked OPT after the number, for example SL 545 against SL 545 OPT, and the same for SL 28 and SL 692. In the Monogram series the split is made with an S or an O at the end. It is worth knowing that many shops drop the letter from the display name, so it is better to check against the full reference rather than the name alone.

It is worth checking whether the model has an alternative-fit version. Saint Laurent marks those with a slash and a letter, usually F and sometimes K or J, and they are built differently at the bridge. Beyond that, bridge width across the catalogue varies a lot: SL 28 has a 23 mm bridge while SL 276 Mica and SL 545 have 16 mm. That difference is felt immediately on the face, so it is worth trying both.
