Bottega Veneta is one of the few houses that barely writes its name on the frame. Instead of a logo there is the Intrecciato, the weave the house developed in leather and carries over into acetate and metal, plus a small triangle stud on the temple. The collection is developed and produced by Kering Eyewear, the group's in-house eyewear division, and a large share of current models are made from recycled acetate. Come to the boutique at Kikar HaMedina and you will see why a frame with no logo is still recognised instantly.
Bottega Veneta was founded in 1966 in Vicenza, in the north of Italy, and built its name on quiet luxury and craft rather than logos. Its famous woven leather, the Intrecciato, is the thread that runs through everything the house makes.
That same idea carries into the eyewear. Instead of a big logo you find the woven pattern worked into the frame itself, along with clean, confident shapes. Under designer Daniel Lee the sunglasses turned bolder, with wide, sculptural styles and the soft green shade that became the brand's signature, and they quickly became a favourite on and off the red carpet.
Bottega Veneta eyewear is made in Italy, for people who like their luxury felt rather than announced.
